Eagles upcoming Challenge

PWA Australia March 27, 2012 0

I’ve been asked a few times why I’m so desperate to fight Ahmed Iblis and MH Cydell this Friday. Originally the match was scheduled to take place last December, however Iblis was taken away from wrestling with a family emergency and wasn’t able to make the show at the last minute. I won’t hint that Iblis is avoiding the match, but hopefully when I’ve finished this blog, I won’t be the only one that is concerned about Ahmed.

Since debuting in PWA in 2008, Ahmed Iblis worked hard in training and went on a rampage. For over two years he was undefeated, he tore through the entire PWA roster (even putting some in retirement) and any outsider that came to face him. No giant, maniac or monster in Australian Wrestling has been so dominant. Ahmed snatched up the PWA Heavyweight Championship and single handily made it mean something. The man is without doubt a one man weapon of mass destruction.

Something happened in December of 2010 though. Mike Valuable was able to throw Iblis through a table and hold his shoulders to the mat for just long enough to end the monsters winning streak. Shortly after Valuable had to have surgery on an injury that still lingered from the vicious attack that lead to the title match in the first place. However it was that pivotal moment for both men that has slowly brought us here.

Whilst Iblis is still a dominant force I feel he has never quite recovered from that first defeat.

This Friday I want to fight the old Ahmed Iblis. The one who destroyed anyone in his path, the one who didn’t care who the challenger was, and the same Iblis who followed Valuable to the car park after he lost a tag match and slammed his head in a car door (Click to view clip), the same man that dislocated his shoulder (tearing the ACL in the process) and still beat two other men to become the Heavyweight Champion.

You see I want to create the same legacy for the PWA Tag Team Championship as Ahmed did for the Heavyweight Championship and that’s why I’ve been so desperate to fight him. There is no malice or ill will, if anything I’m trying to help him. You see by recapturing the old Iblis there is no reason he can’t become the second two time champ in PWA history, but for me to beat THAT Ahmed I will be well on my way to proving that I am one of the country’s elite. Affectively I need Ahmed for validation. The old adage that gets bandied about in wrestling, to be the best you have to beat the best and I need the man who didn’t flinch at breaking bones and taking names. I need that validation and I need the old Iblis to give it to me.

Ahemd, I hope you read this because I’m begging you, this Friday bring the old Ahmed Iblis back, I need you to, and I will continue to build my legacy and the legacy of the PWA Tag Team Championship.

In all of this I have not forgotten about my partner Rick Sterling or Ahmed’s partner MH Cydell, both are very capable, and if anyone can upset my quest it could be Cydell. If you need proof of Cydell’s toughness go back to night two of the King of the New School Tournament from last year, and the Heavyweight Title match against Mark Davis. With Cydell well out-weighed and out matched, Cydell didn’t care and really brought it to the champ.

This Friday will truly be a match I think people will talk about for a while yet.
