PWA Australia August 10, 2012 0

The PWWA Interim Title Final is just around the corner, and with it brings a wave of emotions I’ve never experienced before during my 5 years wrestling.

Last September, a few of us kiwi girls got the chance to wrestle in Australia’s all female promotion, PWWA. They have THE best female wrestlers down under and around the world competing at their shows. It was the greatest feeling to be a part of and continue to be a part of the PWWA roster. They have given me opportunities that up until that point, I could only dream of.

And then came 2012.

Until this year, I have never had a chance to even compete for a championship. This might be the reason why some might perceive me as the underdog in this final – I beg to differ. I believe I have the drive, heart and determination to go all the way and have also been honing my skills to back this up when the moment comes.

This year has been filled with ups and downs – with a back injury halting progress in training, it hasn’t been easy sailing. Facing my bestie Megan-Kate in the quarter finals was also a tough situation. When push came to shove we had a mutual understanding that best friends or not, there could only be one winner. And did she bring it, or what!

While I did come out on top, I am so lucky and grateful that I continued to have a best friend that has supported me throughout this entire tournament. Lova ya, partner.

The semi finals gave me a chance to have the rematch of the battle from last September – Evie vs Kellie Skate 2. I don’t even know how I managed to do it, but I came away with the win against Skater. She didn’t leave me able to walk away comfortably though – my chest was mince meat (again) and even my kick pads couldn’t withhold the bruises up and down my shins! But still, I advanced to the finals.

Jessie is someone I look up to – she has done and is doing what I strive to achieve. She has won the PWWA title before and has travelled overseas to really make a name for herself. I have so much respect for her and what she has done.

When August 25th finally arrives, I know it’ll be a tough fight. The whole tournament has been on foreign soil, but through these matches I know I have support out there. I want nothing more than to win that title, and will do whatever I can in my power to make it happen. #TEAMEVIE
